Who drives the sleigh in your family at Christmas time? The “AskYourDaddy” blog by A. Scott Walton was conceived and designed to promote discussions among black men about the rewards, responsibilities and regrets attached to modern fatherhood. The blog tilts specifically toward a shared goal of successfully steering black boys toward productive adulthood. It’s about engaging conversations that address a daunting challenge, and supporting other black fathers engaged in the same struggles. Census figures indicate that as few as 15 percent of today’s black boys have a father at home helping to raise them; an all-time low. That trend needs to be stopped, and then reversed. The first step, from the “AskYourDaddy” perspective, is to encourage black men to speak out about what inspires or perplexes them when it comes to raising boys the right way. In time, the “AskYourDaddy” blog will be a premiere vehicle for exchanging crucial insights.
WISE WORDS...
